Premium yacht charter on Phuket - 420% ROAS
Premium yacht charters with a $4,200 average ticket. 420% ROAS ($4.20 of revenue per $1 of ad spend) from an experience-led offer: sunsets, champagne, photos, aimed at guests of 5-star resorts
A premium yacht day costs $3,000-5,000, and guests take time to decide. They compare dozens of offers on Booking, Klook and Tripadvisor. A standard 'book a yacht' ad gets lost among hundreds of similar ones, and a small company cannot outbid the international charter platforms in an open auction
We changed the offer from the boat to the experience. Creatives showed scenes instead of specs: sunset off Phi Phi, a glass of champagne, guests' faces. The audience was narrowed to people who already spend on premium travel: interests and lookalikes around Phuket and Krabi 5-star resorts, luxury travel and fine dining. A 20% discount applied only to bookings within 24 hours of the first inquiry, so the 'think about it for a week' option disappeared

Situation
Premium yacht charter on Phuket. The competition is international platforms with large ad budgets and local brokers with direct contacts in the marinas. A small company cannot win a plain auction against them, so it has to win on audience and offer
What we did
A narrow audience that already spends. Lookalikes and interests around guests of top Phuket resorts such as Banyan Tree, Trisara and Amanpuri, plus luxury travel, fine dining in Thailand and premium concierge interests
Experience creatives instead of product creatives. Not “60-foot yacht with 4 cabins” but “sunset at the Similans with champagne”. Not engine specs but “dolphins by the boat in the morning”. Storytelling videos follow one guest’s day from morning to the return to the marina
An offer with a deadline. 20% off when booking within 24 hours of the first touch. On holiday, a delayed decision usually means no booking: the guest leaves, changes plans or finds another boat
A referral program. Every guest got a personal code: 15% off for a friend and a $200 bonus for the guest. According to the client, referrals added 30% more sales on top of paid traffic
Result
420% ROAS on premium charters: $4.20 of revenue for every $1 of ad spend. The company’s profit is not disclosed in the case, so we do not calculate ROI
What to take from this
Sell the day, not the boat. Guests choosing between dozens of similar charters remember a scene, not a cabin count
Target people who already pay for premium. Resort and luxury travel signals cut the audience to guests for whom $3,000-5,000 a day is a normal holiday expense
Put a short deadline in the offer. Tourists are on the island for days, not months. A 24-hour window matches how they actually decide
Build referrals in from the first booking. For a premium charter, a guest’s friend is the cheapest next client you will get
