Furniture rental in Dubai - 210 inquiries from expats

A furniture rental service for expats in Dubai. 210 inquiries at $18 and a 35% conversion into subscription through all-inclusive packages.

The problem

Expats in Dubai live on one or two year contracts, then go home or move to the next country. Buying $5,000-15,000 of furniture and abandoning it on departure makes no sense. Shipping it out is expensive and logistically painful. But the furniture rental market in Dubai is opaque to a newcomer.

What we changed

We moved the offer from renting items individually to ready-made all-inclusive packages by apartment type: studio, 1BR, 2BR. Each package covered everything - bed, sofa, table, kitchen, crockery, bedding. Same-day delivery. The option to swap the furniture for a fresh collection after six months. A deposit equal to one month of rent, with no complicated checks.

Context

A furniture rental service in Dubai serving the growing expat audience from Russia, Europe and Asia. The competition is large chain players and IKEA with its buy-back program. A small service needed positioning the big players could not copy quickly.

What we did

Packages by apartment type. Instead of a catalog of 200 items, three packages: Studio at $1,500 a month, 1BR at $2,500, 2BR at $3,500. Each one a finished answer - arrive and start living.

Targeting specific segments. Look-alike from buyers of IKEA annual packages in Dubai, plus interests around expat life in Dubai, relocation services and furnished apartments. Two languages, English and Russian, with two different creative approaches.

Creative shot in real apartments. Not renders and catalog shots, but photos and video of actual apartments the service had furnished, each with an expat’s story: arrived from London, moved in three days after landing.

What made the difference

210 inquiries at a 35% conversion is roughly 70 subscription contracts at a $2,500 monthly average - a base of recurring revenue many times larger than the $3,840 ad budget. The core insight: expats value simplicity and speed above price. A $2,500 package delivered within a day beats piecemeal rental at $1,800 with a three-week wait.
